Tarisha had been spending a lot of time with Reino. Lunch, break, after school, and Xaria just watched as the red haired female flirted with her best friend...correction, her crush. Xaria knew that Rei didn't know that she had feelings for him. He just thought that they were still just best friends. Xaria had been okay with that, until Tarisha came and started flirting with Rei.

Xaria went home alone again for the day. She didn't see Reino or Tarisha when the bell rang. She silently walked down the street, passively watching her surroundings until a hand touched her shoulder then pulled her into a hug. Xaria almost punched whoever it was until she recognized Rei's aura.
"Rei-chan! Don't do that! You gave me a start!!!" Xaria scolded, slapping his arm.
"I'm sorry," He said sheepishly "I just missed you."
Xaria's expression softened; "I missed you too." She said, reaching up to pat her friend's head.
Rei smiled and released her.
"So how was your date?" Xaria gently teased, trying to act as if Rei going out with Tarisha wasn't affecting her.
Rei blushed, "It wasn't a date." He then pouted a bit. "But it was okay I guess."
Xaria chuckled, it wasn't true to her feelings, but being a master of illusions, she could fool almost anyone. "What do you mean 'I guess?!' You're going out with a hot girl and You GUESS?!"
Rei's expression slightly dropped. "Like I said, I missed you..."
"What's that supposed to mean? That you can't go on dates without me?"
Rei looked to the side. "Forget it..."
This time, Xaria was really puzzled.
"Don't look at me like that, come on. Let's go home." He said, wrapping an arm around her shoulder and prompting her to walk.
Xaria went along with him. He escorted her up until the front gate and left. The moment Xaria entered, her father spoke; "When are you going to tell him?"
She got startled and glared at her father, who was standing at the door to the kitchen.
"I-I don't know what you're talking about." She said, lightly blushing.
Xaria crashed into her bed and glanced at the picture of her and Rei that was propped up against her lamp on her desk. How was she going to tell him? Would she have the guts to tell him? No, she didn't have the guts to tell him. That she really liked him.....Xaria buried her face in her pillow. The next day, she saw text message on her phone.
"Xary...call me?" The message read. It was from Rei.
She entered the code for unlimited call and text then dialled in Rei's cell phone number.
"Hello?" The voice on the other line answered.
"Rei...You texted?"
"Yeah...Um...I dunno how to ask you this but...Can you help me ask Tarisha out? Give me tips or something? Rio's being a cow."
Xaria's heart broke; she wasn't able to answer for a few minutes. She wanted to cry. Now she didn't have any chance to express her feelings to Rei. How could she? She was scared of what he would say. She was a wimp.
"Xary...?" Rei's voice sounded worried.
"Y-yeah. What do you have in mind?"
"That's the problem. I don't have a single idea on what I should do."
"Hm....flowers would be nice but that's common....How about you cook a small snack or dessert for her, wrap it up with a note that says "Would you got out with me?" With a rose?" Xaria said, imagining what she would have wanted.
"That's awesome, Xary!!! You're the best, you know that?"
"Hahah, yes, I know that."
"You know, I would be rude if I did a hit and run on you but...."
"You're excited. I understand, go ahead. BUT! Tell me what happens. EVERY SINGLE DETAIL."
"THANKYOUTHANKYOUTHANKYOUTHANKYOU!!!"
Xary chuckled. "Go! Bye Rei."
"Bye, Xary." Rei then put the phone down with a click.
Xary then began to cry, her heart shattering into pieces. Angry. Angry because she had been such a wimp. She cried herself to sleep. She woke up late afternoon and just stared blankly. Why was she so heartbroken? It's not like they had any relationship.

Xary was walking home from school the next day when Rei glomped her, nearly throwing her off balance.
"She accepted!!!"Rei said happily.
"Really? I'm glad for you."
Rei nodded.

The next few days, Rei was out of her sight after school. Then her phone beeped after 2 weeks since Rei had called her.
"She accptd!" Rei sounded happy, even in the text.
"That's nice! " Xaria replied, tears streaming down her cheeks as she typed it in.

In the next several weeks, Rei spent most of his time with Tarisha. One day, Tarisha caught up with Xaria on her way home, she looked...angry, Xaria thought. The moment Tarisha caught up with her, she burst.
"What relationship do you have with Rei?"
"I'm his best friend. Why do you ask?" Xaria replied calmly
"All he talks about is you. Xaria this, Xaria that..."Emotion cutting Tarisha's sentence.
"I assure you, I have nothing romantic with Reino."
"Please, stay away from him for awhile..."
"That has been involuntarily happening ever since you agreed to become his girlfriend." With that, Xaria turned and left.
The moment she got home, she texted Rei.
"Rei, Don't talk about me 2 much 2 ur girlfrnd."
"????" Came a prompt reply
"It's rude and she's getting jealous."
"I c...I just miss u a lot...."
"U miss me eh? I think she DOES hav a reasn 2 b jealous."
"A-ah! I didn't...I just miss u..((((("
" I know, Rei, I know."
Rei didn't reply anymore and Xaria buried her face in her pillow.
A month later, Rei hugged her from behind again while she was in the park, at their favourite private place where they can talk about anything.
"R-rei?"
"We broke up." He said, burying his face in her shoulder.
"Aw, I'm so sorry, Reino!" She turned to hug him.
"Don't be...It doesn't hurt."
"You don't have to pretend, Rei. You can cry."
"I'm serious...It really doesn't hurt. I'm a little disappointed but it doesn't hurt like it should..."
"Rei...."
"It doesn't hurt like when I missed you."
Xaria blushed. What did he mean?
"R-rei...I don't understand..."
He pulled away and held her and arms length. "Don't you understand? You truly don't?"
Xaria shook her head.
"I didn't miss her, I didn't crave to hear her voice everyday...but I missed you, I craved o hear your voice, to see even just your shadow..."
Xaria blushed darker, finally catching on.
"I didn't love her...but you..."
Xaria put a finger to Rei's lips.
"Rei...before you continue...I want you to know something..." She swallowed a bit then continued; "I like you, Rei. I like you very much...So much..." She started to cry.
Rei then hugged her tightly. "I Like you very much as well, Xary. For a long time now. But you always seemed uninterested in falling in love so I thought..."
"I was uninterested because I had already fallen for you." Xaria cut him off.
Rei pulled away, searching her already tear stained face. He lightly kissed her tears and moved closer. Xaria blushed furiously then she felt Rei's lips gently press against hers. She closed her eyes and wrapped her arms around his neck. Reino pulled away.
"I love you."
